Kate Winslet Says That She And Leo Never Got Together Because He Saw Her As ‘One Of The Guys’

You can never have even seen Titanic to know that A-list actors, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have some serious chemistry.

Of course, they’re actors, and it’s their job, but their performance could have fooled just about anyone in the audience that the pair were in fact, in love offscreen as well as on.

The movie is based on the tragedy of the Titanic sinking, but it’s hard to pay attention to anything other than the lovebirds.

To many fans, the real tragedy of the film version of Titanic is that Leo and Kate never got together or dated in real life.

20 years may have passed since the film was initially released, but that doesn’t stop anyone from holding onto hope that the actors who played Rose and Jack will still fall in love in real life.

If you’re wondering why everyone’s dream couple never became a reality, Kate recently revealed why in an interview with Marie Claire.

If you didn’t fantasize about Rose and Jack being together forever when they first laid eyes on each other in Titanic, then you definitely did during this famous scene.

The couple definitely stole our hearts throughout the movie, which is a big reason why people are still hoping they might finally get together almost 20 years later.

It’s not just us who haven’t been able to let Titanic go, the pair admit to still quoting the movie to each other to this day.

However, these reunions are, sadly, not flirtatious. Kate and Leo are strictly friends.

E! News reports that Kate told Marie Claire:

It’s so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually we never did. He always saw me as one of the boys; I’ve never really been a girly-girl. We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system.

It may be hard for people to swallow a close friendship that involves members of the opposite sex. Especially when everyone thinks that the pair is so perfect for each other.

Of course, the tabloids never miss an opportunity to get our hopes up and perhaps…misrepresent some of the time the pair spends together.

The friends did go on vacation together in Saint-Tropez in August, but it was a, “BFF vacation” according to GLAMOUR.

A “BFF vacation” may sound suspicious, but Kate and Leo really are just friends.

In fact, they are such good friends, and apparently supportive of one another’s relationships that Leo even walked Kate down the aisle when she married her now husband, Ned Rocknroll.

In fact, it was Kate’s third marriage. None, of course, were to Leo.

On the other hand, Leo has enjoyed many relationships with various starlets and models throughout his career, but has yet to tie the knot himself.

If they can’t be romantically involved in real life, at least they’re very good friends and that is heartwarming in its own right.
